Calabria regional councilor criticizes AMICAL SpA legislative proposal

Calabrian regional councilor Francesco De Cicco has criticized the regional government's rapid push for a law to establish AMICAL SpA, an entity involving ArtCal. De Cicco argues that the legislative process lacks democratic consultation and ignores the input of local territories.

Concerns have been raised regarding the financial impact on municipalities, which may be required to pay entry fees between 200,000 and 250,000 euros, potentially diverting funds from essential citizen services. Additionally, De Cicco highlighted the impact on ArtCal workers, stating that the transition threatens the rights and positions of public employees who had recently returned to the region.

The councilor characterized the measure as being ‘imposed from above’ to avoid amendments and suggested the law might face legal challenges due to potential unconstitutionality.
