Crotone-Sibari railway line to suspend train services for replacement buses

The railway line between Crotone and Sibari in Calabria will face a new suspension of train services starting Sunday, September 13, 2026. Following a brief period of rail service after July, the route will revert to using replacement buses.

Commuters, including students, will be forced to rely on road transport. Current Trenitalia booking data shows bus travel times ranging between 2.5 and 3 hours, with ticket prices between 8.50 and 10 euros. Local critics have expressed frustration, noting that the return to bus services occurs just as schools resume and work demands increase, describing the move as a setback for a strategic regional connection.
