Calabria transport companies announce strike over fuel costs
Transport companies in Calabria have announced a mobilization and a planned stoppage of road haulage services starting October 9. The decision was made by the regional branch of Fedralog following an extraordinary assembly of member companies.
Fedralog is citing rising fuel costs as the primary driver for the protest. The federation is calling for structural reforms, including an automated mechanism to adjust tariffs based on fuel price fluctuations. Additionally, they are requesting urgent regional measures such as a three-year exemption from vehicle taxes for vehicles over 3.5 tons, a special amnesty for previous payments, and a reduction in the regional Irap tax rate for the logistics sector. To support the mobilization, the federation plans to organize coordinated pickets across the territory, including the regional Citadel parking area in Catanzaro.
