Calabrian leaders respond to threats against Gioia Tauro mayor and political rift

The Mayor of Gioia Tauro, Simona Scarcella, has received serious threats directed at her and her family. In response, the Association of Grecanica Area Municipalities issued a statement expressing deep solidarity, asserting that no administrator should be left alone against intimidation. The association emphasized that such acts undermine democracy and civil living, calling on authorities to identify those responsible.

In a separate political development in Calabria, regional councilor Orlandino Greco has formally rejected any political alliance with Roberto Vannacci. Greco stated that Vannacci’s positions regarding civil rights, disability, and immigration are incompatible with constitutional values and the principles of social inclusion. Greco emphasized the importance of protecting the vulnerable and maintaining ethical integrity within political coalitions.
