Calabrian universities propose entrepreneurship school to EU

Rectors from the three major universities in Calabria are proposing the creation of an itinerant ‘school of entrepreneurship’ to the European Union. The initiative aims to operate within representative villages across the region to support the ‘Right to stay’ project, a concept promoted by European Commission Vice President Raffaele Fitto.

University leaders, including Gianluigi Greco of the University of Calabria, Giuseppe Zimbalatti of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, and Stefano Alcaro of Magna Grecia University in Catanzaro, emphasized the need to connect students with international investors and modern business tools, such as artificial intelligence. The goal is to foster a local business culture that allows graduates to build futures within the region rather than migrating elsewhere. The rectors noted a positive trend in regional growth and a high employment rate among local graduates, expressing a desire for EU support to integrate university structures for this purpose.
