Calahorra celebrates 50 years of Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz processions

The Cofradía de la Santa Vera Cruz in Calahorra is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first processional outing of the Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz throughout September. The commemorative program, themed ‘Vera Cruz: Medio siglo en procesión’, includes religious, musical, and cultural activities.

Key events include the presentation of a commemorative seal and a tasting of ‘Vera Cruz’ Crianza D.O.C. Rioja wine on September 10. On September 11, a musical and spiritual event titled ‘Entre velas y pasos’ will be held at the San Andrés Parish. The central celebration will take place on Saturday, September 12, featuring a musical exaltation followed by an extraordinary procession of the Santo Cristo from the San Andrés Parish to the Cathedral of Santa María. The festivities will conclude with a Solemn Mass on Sunday, September 13.
