Calais: Two arrested for stealing scrap metal from construction sites

Two individuals have been arrested in the Fort Nieulay district of Calais following a series of thefts involving scrap metal. The suspects reportedly broke padlocks to enter construction sites and boiler rooms to steal brass objects, electrical wires, and other metal components.

According to Deputy Commissioner Émilie Riste, the individuals were apprehended by the police rescue brigade on the afternoon of August 25, shortly after they attempted to sell the stolen goods to a scrap metal dealer. Both suspects have been taken into custody and have admitted to the crimes. A judicial decision regarding their fate is expected by May 4, 2027.
