Calama appoints 20 members to municipal COSOCI council for 2026‑2030

The municipality of Calama held a solemn ceremony to swear in 20 new members of the Consejo Comunal de Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (COSOCI) for the 2026‑2030 term. The council, an autonomous consultative body, brings together leaders from territorial, functional and public‑interest organisations to advise the city on economic, social, cultural and territorial development.

Mayor Eliecer Chamorro praised the volunteers, saying they “work directly with the community, neighbourhood groups and organisations without remuneration.” Council members highlighted their role in fostering participation from diverse groups, including feminist, environmental and cultural organisations. The inaugural session also agreed that the next meeting will elect a new vice‑president, marking the start of COSOCI’s work on sustainable development initiatives for Calama.
