Calama approves over 200 million pesos for Christmas toys
The Calama Municipal Council has approved an investment exceeding 200 million pesos for the purchase of Christmas toys. The initiative is intended for children between the ages of 0 and 12 residing in Calama and Alto El Loa.
The program is expected to benefit more than 12,500 children. According to Irene Alfaro Cortez, director of the Community Development Directorate (Dideco), the selection includes a specific focus on children with special needs, providing sensory toys and didactic support tools. The municipality also noted a preference for unisex toys to avoid gender distinctions.
Registration will begin in the coming days, coordinated through more than 150 neighborhood councils and social organizations. Once official lists are finalized, toy distribution is scheduled to take place during December to ensure children receive them before Christmas.
