Calama honors over 500 community leaders

The Municipality of Calama held a ceremony to honor more than 500 leaders from various social and community organizations in observance of National Social and Organizational Leader Day. The event aimed to highlight the contributions of those representing neighbors and communities across different sectors of the commune.

During the ceremony, Mayor Eliecer Chamorro Vargas emphasized the importance of unity and strengthening ties among community leaders. Several individuals received recognition for their specific contributions, including Margarita Alcota Muñoz for her work with senior citizen clubs, Juan Iribarren Otárola for inclusion organizations, and Francis Roco Gallardo for volunteerism and animal protection. Other distinctions were awarded to Daisy Barraza Araya, América Rodríguez Carrazana, and Jacqueline Echeverría, while posthumous honors were paid to María Rocha Hurtado and Guadalupe González Lucas.
