Calama prosecutors formalize two adolescents for homicide

Two adolescents, aged 15 and 16, have been placed in provisional detention following the homicide of 15-year-old Carlos Vargas Rodríguez in Calama. The suspects, reportedly brothers, were formalized by the Calama Prosecutor's Office for crimes including robbery with violence and aggravated robbery resulting in homicide.

The incident occurred on the night of September 3 in the western sector of the city. According to investigators, the victim was approached and wounded with a sharp object. Despite his injuries, Vargas Rodríguez managed to board a bus, and the driver transported him to the SAR Alemania medical center, where he later passed away.

Following an investigation by the Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH), the suspects were detained by Carabineros. A court has ordered their placement in the Provisional Detention and Closed Regime Center (CIP-CRC) while the prosecution continues its investigation, which has been granted a 150-day period.
