Grosseto and Spezia draw 1-1 in Serie C season opener

Grosseto secured a 1-1 draw against Spezia in their Serie C season opener. After falling behind to a Cardinali goal in the 44th minute, Grosseto responded in the second half with a goal from Fiorini in the 74th minute.

Grosseto, managed by Paolo Indiani, fielded a very young squad and showed significant resilience against the recently relegated Spezia. Despite several opportunities to win, including a late chance by Durmush that was saved by goalkeeper Cabella, the match ended in a stalemate.

Spezia coach Marco Turati noted that while his team controlled possession, they lacked the necessary clinical edge and made technical errors that allowed Grosseto to remain competitive. Spezia goalkeeper Alessandro Micai commented that the result was a learning experience for his new squad as they work to improve defensive organization.
