Caldas da Rainha joins the European Route of Ceramics

Caldas da Rainha has officially joined the European Route of Ceramics, a cultural network certified by the Council of Europe. The decision was finalized during the organization's General Assembly held in Faenza, Italy, on September 3.

This membership follows a candidacy submitted by the municipality in July. The network aims to promote European ceramic heritage, preserve traditional knowledge, support contemporary artistic creation, and foster sustainable cultural tourism. By joining, Caldas da Rainha connects with other major ceramic production centers, including Faenza (Italy), Limoges (France), Delft (Netherlands), and Aveiro (Portugal).

Local officials noted that this inclusion recognizes the uniqueness of the region's ceramic heritage. It also complements the city's existing cultural status, as Caldas da Rainha has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network since 2019 and presides over the Portuguese Association of Ceramic Cities and Towns.
