Caldas da Rainha municipality to support family after baby's fatal fall
The Caldas da Rainha City Council has announced it will provide psychological and social support to the family of a 22-month-old baby who died following a fall from a fourth-floor window in the Avenal area.
The accident occurred on a Saturday morning while the child was at home with two older sisters, aged 15 and 16. According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the child reportedly climbed a chair near an open window. Emergency services, including the Caldas da Rainha Firefighters and a medical reanimation team, responded to the scene. The infant was transported via helicopter to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, where they passed away during resuscitation efforts.
The Public Ministry has confirmed that the circumstances of the incident will be investigated. Local authorities noted that the family was well-structured and had no prior involvement with child protection services or social services. The municipality is coordinating its support through its Municipal Psychology Office.
