Caldas Novas church evacuated following aggressive bee swarm

A large swarm of bees caused the evacuation of a church and the closure of several streets in Caldas Novas on Sunday. The insects, which were concentrated on an electrical pole, exhibited aggressive behavior, attacking congregants and local residents.

The Fire Department and the Municipal Mobility Secretariat responded to the incident. Firefighters found that the swarm had spread across the entire block and into adjacent streets. Using a rescue unit, authorities conducted a gradual evacuation of the church, transporting people to a safe location.

During the operation, emergency teams also attempted to rescue a dog that was trapped by its collar and suffering from dozens of stings. Despite assistance from a beekeeper, the animal died minutes later due to the severity of its injuries. The owners of the dog were not located. Traffic in the risk area was restricted with cones and tape to ensure public safety.
