Caldera launches scientific tourism project for Flowering Desert

The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the Municipality of Caldera have launched a project titled ‘Interpretation Tour of the Flowering Desert: Biodiversity Heritage under Climate Change Conditions’. The initiative aims to bridge scientific knowledge with the local community and tourists to promote the responsible protection of the Atacama Region's natural heritage.

Funded by the National Public Science Competition of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge, and Innovation, the project includes interpretive panels, interactive materials, and guided tours. Caldera serves as a strategic access point due to its proximity to the Flowering Desert National Park and the Llanos de Challe National Park.
