Calea Ferată din Moldova transported 46,500 tons of goods in August

Calea Ferată din Moldova (CFM) transported 46,548 tons of goods for export and transit during August, primarily consisting of agricultural products. This volume underscores the role of rail infrastructure in supporting Moldovan exports and regional trade connectivity.

Key export commodities included 10,789 tons of rapeseed, 7,526 tons of oilseed, 7,428 tons of wheat, and 2,786 tons of peas. In terms of transit, CFM moved 18,019 tons of goods. Significant transit routes included Basarabeasca–Galați, carrying lentils and rapeseed, and Basarabeasca–Reni, which handled sunflower oil and barley. Additionally, 3,186 tons of wheat were transported via the Mohyliv-Podilsk–Ungheni route.

CFM noted that transit shipments include Ukrainian goods moved using Ukrainian operators' own wagons. The railway network currently operates at approximately 20% of its capacity, which allows for the simultaneous handling of domestic and transit shipments without reducing wagon availability for Moldovan farmers.
