Caleb Flynn murder trial reveals alleged messages and autopsy details

Caleb Flynn, a former worship pastor and ‘American Idol’ contestant, is on trial for the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn. During court proceedings, prosecutors presented evidence of a years-long affair between Flynn and a mistress, including over 100,000 exchanged messages.

Prosecutor Paul Watkins argued that these messages established motive and intent. One alleged message from Flynn stated, ‘If I could literally kill her and not go to hell, I would do it in a heartbeat.’ Watkins characterized the killing as an execution, noting that Ashley was shot twice in the back of the head while sleeping in her bed.

Testimony from Montgomery County Deputy Coroner Dr. Bryan Casto provided gruesome details regarding the autopsy. Casto described photos of the victim showing hair, brain matter, and bone fragments resulting from two bullets exiting the skull. The prosecution further alleged that Flynn attempted to delete communications related to his affair to conceal his actions.
