Caleb Mutfwang denies 60:40 cabinet-sharing deal with APC Legacy Group

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has denied allegations that he entered into a 60:40 cabinet-sharing agreement with the APC Legacy Group prior to his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The controversy arose following a recent cabinet reshuffle, which the Legacy Group—loyal to former Governor Simon Lalong—claimed violated a prior pact intended to reserve 40 per cent of government positions for its members. Mutfwang dismissed these claims as a “wild misconception,” asserting that while he committed to sharing party positions, he never promised to allocate specific percentages of government appointments.

During a swearing-in ceremony for three new commissioners in Jos, the governor argued that Legacy Group members already hold significant influence. He noted that 16 of the 24 APC candidates for the House of Assembly were members of the group and called for an end to the division between established party members and those who joined following his defection.
