Caleb Mutfwang urges Northern leaders to prioritize education
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has called on Northern Nigerian leaders to prioritize education as a primary method for addressing the Almajiri system. Speaking in Adamawa State during the 70th birthday celebration of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Mutfwang described the current state of the Almajiri system as a hindrance to the region's economic and human development.
Mutfwang emphasized that education is a vital instrument for fostering peace and economic prosperity. He noted the historical role of religious institutions in education, citing former Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa’s support for churches due to their contributions to community development and teaching.
The event also featured the unveiling of new library and administrative blocks at the Lutheran University of Nigeria, which were funded by Mustapha. Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri joined the commendations, praising Mustapha’s decision to invest personal resources into educational infrastructure rather than private projects.
