Caleb Williams performance sparks backlash over PFF grades
Pro Football Focus (PFF) has faced significant backlash from fans and media following its Week 1 grading of Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Despite Williams recording 334 total yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns in a 59-point victory over the Carolina Panthers, PFF assigned him an offensive grade of 64.
This grade ranked Williams as the 14th best starting quarterback for the week, while other metrics suggested a higher performance. The discrepancy between the team's historic scoring output and the analytical grading has led to public criticism regarding the credibility and accuracy of PFF’s statistical models.
