Caleb Williams shows offensive growth under Bears coach Ben Johnson

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams are showing significant growth in their professional relationship as the team prepares for the 2026 campaign. Veteran tight end Cole Kmet noted that the rapport between the coach and quarterback has improved communication within the huddle and benefited the entire roster.

Coach Johnson highlighted Williams' improvements in anticipation, timing, and understanding of offensive schemes. Johnson stated that Williams is no longer ‘foreign’ to many aspects of the game, having gained valuable experience that allows him to trust his receivers and throw into tight windows.

While Williams has maintained a low interception rate of 1.2% over two seasons, Johnson views his development as a continuous process, focusing currently on situational work and coverage recognition. This progression is expected to impact key targets including Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland, and Cole Kmet.
