Calexico resident launches successful garage-based coffee shop

Katalina Bedoya has established a successful coffee business, ‘The Guac Stop’, operating out of her home garage in the Villas Victoria area of Calexico, California. The venture began eighteen months ago after Bedoya received a coffee maker as a gift from her husband before his military deployment.

After perfecting recipes and selling coffee to friends, Bedoya obtained city permits to convert her garage into a formal sales point. The business operates on weekends and has reached sales volumes of up to 500 coffees per day. Bedoya specializes in using natural, organic ingredients for custom syrups and cold foams, such as pistachio and banana.

The enterprise is a family affair, with Bedoya’s best friend and family members assisting in operations. Additionally, her aunt provides food offerings including tacos, conchas, and various desserts.
