Calexico teachers undergo training before new school year

More than 620 teachers from the Calexico Unified School District participated in professional development workshops ahead of the upcoming school year. The training sessions, led by county specialists and educators from various states, focused on educational strategies, the use of artificial intelligence, and English language learning.

Superintendent Arturo Jiménez noted that the district is preparing to welcome over 17,000 students. He highlighted a specific challenge regarding language acquisition, stating that 90% of the students are learning English as a second language with Spanish as their native tongue. While emphasizing the benefits of bilingualism, Jiménez noted the academic goal is to ensure students reach a high level of English proficiency.
