Calgary and Rockyview County partner to advance Prairie Economic Gateway

The City of Calgary and Rockyview County have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) to accelerate the development of the Prairie Economic Gateway. This multi-billion dollar logistics hub, often referred to as an ‘inland port’, is planned for 1,300 acres along 114 Avenue S.E. near Calgary’s southeast limits.

The agreement aims to transition the project from engineering design to construction activities by establishing a framework to assess the commercial, technical, and financial feasibility of necessary public off-site infrastructure. Once completed, the hub is expected to be one of Canada’s largest centers for trade, logistics, and manufacturing, anchored by the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail network.
