Calgary Flames advance Martin Pospíšil to third line amid recent victories

Calgary Flames forward Martin Pospíšil has moved up from the fourth line to the third line in the early stages of the 2026/2027 NHL season. This promotion follows strong analytical indicators, including an expected goals share of 58.4 percent during his time on the fourth line.

Calgary recently secured its second victory of the season by defeating the defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes 3-2, snapping the Hurricanes' seven-game winning streak. Slovak players Martin Pospíšil and Šimon Nemec were both part of the Flames lineup during this victory. Goaltender Devin Cooley played a significant role in the win, recording a save percentage of 94.4 percent.

Following a difficult start to the season that included five consecutive losses, the team's recent performances against Anaheim and Carolina have provided a boost in confidence. Defenseman Zayne Parekh noted that the win against Carolina was a vital boost for the team's morale.
