Calgary Flames begin training camp for final Saddledome season
The Calgary Flames have commenced training camp, marking the beginning of their final season at the Scotiabank Saddledome before moving to Scotia Place in 2027. The team is emphasizing a youth movement, with 33 of its 52 campers aged 26 or younger. The Flames are scheduled to open their regular season on October 1 against the Seattle Kraken.
In personnel updates, the organization announced that Kevin Sawyer will join the Sportsnet regional broadcast team as a game analyst and colour commentator for the 2026–27 season. Sawyer, a former NHL player, joins hosts Jon Abbott and Brendan Parker.
On the ice, left-winger Jonathan Huberdeau is currently working toward a return from hip resurfacing surgery performed in March. Head coach Ryan Huska noted that Huberdeau is skating and working with an individual skills coach, though he has not played since January.
