Calgary Flames prepare for final season at Saddledome

The Calgary Flames are preparing for a farewell season at the Saddledome, the team's longtime home since 1983. Tickets for the final matchup against the Vancouver Canucks on April 10 sold out within minutes of becoming available, reflecting high fan enthusiasm for the arena's closing.

The iconic venue, known for its saddle-shaped roof and its role as a centerpiece for the 1988 Winter Olympics, is slated for demolition. While the building holds significant history, including the site of the Flames' 1989 Stanley Cup win and Jaromír Jágr's final NHL goal, it has faced criticism regarding aging facilities and outdated amenities.

Starting in the 2027-28 season, the Flames, along with the Calgary Hitmen and Calgary Wranglers, will relocate to the new Scotia Place located across the street. The new arena is expected to host major events, including the 2028 World Cup.
