Calgary Flames prepare for rebuilding season and arena move

The Calgary Flames are entering the 2026–2027 season in a period of transition, characterized by a youth movement and a change in home venue. Following a 34–39–9 record in the previous season, the roster is increasingly centered around younger players such as Matt Coronato, Connor Zary, Zayne Parekh, Simon Nemec, and goaltender Dustin Wolf.

This season marks the final year of games at the Scotiabank Saddledome before the team moves to Scotia Place. On the ice, the team is in a rebuilding phase following the trades of veteran players including Rasmus Andersson, Nazem Kadri, MacKenzie Weegar, and Blake Coleman. There is speculation regarding head coach Ryan Huska’s tenure and the development of young talent like Matt Coronato.

Broadcasting for the season varies by region. In Canada, viewers can access games through Sportsnet and Amazon Prime Video. In the United States, fans can primarily watch via the ESPN app, specifically NHL Power Play on ESPN+, as well as out-of-market options like ESPN Select, ESPN Unlimited, and NHL Center Ice.
