Calgary police charge four in copper-wire theft incidents
The Calgary Police Service has charged four individuals in connection with two separate copper-wire thefts occurring in the Greenview Industrial Park area.
The first incident took place on August 21, 2026, around 5:00 a.m. on Edmonton Trail NE. Police responded to reports of a red SUV using a tow strap to pull items from a manhole. Three suspects were taken into custody at the scene. Calvin Hawryluk, 46, faces charges of mischief over $5,000 and drug possession, while Linda Scott, 57, faces charges of mischief over $5,000 and breaching probation.
A second incident occurred three days later, on August 24, near the same location. Officers arrived to find one suspect sleeping in a vehicle and another inside a manhole. Police recovered approximately 25 feet of cut telecommunications cable, various tools, and quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Aurora Burr, 29, is linked to both incidents and faces multiple charges, including mischief over $5,000, theft, and drug possession. Eric Dube, 50, was also charged in the second incident with theft over $5,000, mischief, and several other offences.
