Calgary police officer shoots suspect during early‑morning disturbance

On the early morning of July 30 2026, Calgary police responded to reports of a man with a weapon at the 1000 block of Bridlemeadows Manor Southwest in the Bridlewood neighbourhood. Officers attempted to de‑escalate and take the individual into custody; after the suspect entered a nearby residence and later exited, a confrontation led an officer to fire his weapon. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, while no officers were injured.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been assigned to investigate the officer‑involved shooting, following standard practice for such incidents in the province.
