Calgary police warn of AI misinformation and donation scams in search for missing boy Parker Wells

Police in Calgary continue the search for 11‑year‑old Parker Wells, who vanished on July 16 near Connaught Drive. Over 400 officers have logged more than 5,500 search hours and covered roughly 7,000 kilometres, following hundreds of public tips.

The police have warned the public about two new threats to the investigation. First, artificial‑intelligence‑generated images and videos are being shared online, creating false leads that divert resources. Officers urge anyone to refrain from liking, resharing, or acting on content that does not come from official police channels.

Second, an unauthorized online fundraising campaign has appeared, claiming to support the search. The police confirm no family‑approved GoFundMe exists and advise people to verify any donation request before contributing.
