Calgary Wild coach Leah Blayney steps away for family leave

Leah Blayney, head coach of the Calgary Wild FC of the Northern Super League, has been granted a leave of absence to attend to a private family matter. The club issued a statement saying it fully supports Blayney and asked for privacy.

Blayney, a former Australian midfielder, was hired on July 6 after the team’s poor start and the departure of previous coach Lydia Bedford. Under her four matches in charge the Wild lost all four games. Assistant coach Kory Babington, also Australian, will assume coaching duties for the remainder of the season. Calgary, which sits at 9‑14‑2 in its inaugural 2025 season, is set to host AFC Toronto on Saturday.
