Ben Maher wins Spruce Meadows Grand Prix despite shoulder injury

British rider Ben Maher won the CPKC ‘International’ Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows, securing a victory despite a shoulder injury sustained during the BMO Nations Cup the previous day. Competing aboard Enjeu De Grisien, Maher navigated a challenging course designed by Leopoldo Palacios to finish the jump-off in 41.40 seconds.

Maher narrowly defeated the United States’ Lillie Keenan, who finished 0.45 seconds behind him. The podium was completed by Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat. The competition was marked by high difficulty, with no double-clears recorded in the main rounds and a field of 39 riders whittled down to six for the jump-off. Germany’s Richard Vogel, a favorite for the Rolex Grand Slam title, finished in fifth place.
