Cali family protests months‑long chemotherapy delay for cancer patient
A family in Cali, Colombia, says a cancer patient affiliated with the health insurer EPS Emssanar has not received chemotherapy for four to five months despite a prescription from the oncologist and a court order mandating treatment. The patient’s mother, Tatiana Becerra, reported repeated visits to hospitals and emergency services while the woman’s condition worsened, affecting her mobility, nutrition and overall quality of life.
The family blames administrative bottlenecks between health‑care entities for the delay and urges regional health authorities to intervene urgently. They also note that they have incurred additional expenses for medicines, transportation and caregiving while awaiting a response.
