Cali prepares tight security and $500 million reward for presidential inauguration
Mayor Alejandro Eder and Valle del Cauca Governor Dilian Francisca Toro met with police commanders and other local officials to finalize security measures for the upcoming presidential inauguration of Abelardo de la Espriella in Cali. A Unified Command Post was established to coordinate preparations, and a reward of 500 million Colombian pesos was announced for information that helps prevent threats, attacks, or public disorder, including the use of weapons, drones or suspicious vehicles.
The ceremony will be held at the Arena USC auditorium, which seats 2,800 people. Safe corridors have been designated through Cali, Palmira, Jamundí, Candelaria, Florida and Alfonso Bonilla Aragón Airport to ensure secure movement of officials and participants. Authorities emphasized a zero‑tolerance policy toward vandalism and violence while respecting peaceful demonstrations.
