Cali proposes 8 trillion peso budget for 2027
The Cali District Administration has submitted a proposed general budget for 2027 to the City Council, totaling 8 trillion pesos. If approved, the plan aims to direct 78% of these funds, or 6.31 trillion pesos, toward public investment to finance 533 projects and advance 300 goals within the 'Cali, Capital Pacífica de Colombia' Development Plan.
Healthcare and education are the primary focus areas. The 'Salud Integral y de Calidad' program is slated to receive 2.3 trillion pesos, a 28% increase over 2026, to ensure service coverage. The 'Cali Educada' education program is proposed at 1.5 trillion pesos, a 17% increase, which includes significant funding for educational infrastructure, school transport, and the School Feeding Program (PAE).
Other notable allocations include a 68% increase for the Social Housing and Habitat Secretariat, intended to expand housing offerings and improve living conditions. Additionally, the 'Cali Distrito Deportivo, Cultural y Turístico' program is expected to see a 13% rise in funding to support sports formation, recreation, and cultural events.
