Dominican Republic to plant 10 million trees along major roads

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, together with RD Vial and the General Directorate for Road Beautification, announced a two‑year reforestation plan targeting key highways and avenues across the Dominican Republic. The initiative aims to plant about 10 million saplings to restore vegetation cover, improve roadside scenery and add greenery to strategic corridors such as the Circunvalación de Azua, Autovía del Coral, the 6 de Noviembre, Juan Pablo II and Duarte highways, and the Avenida Ecológica. Minister Paíno Henríquez said the government intends to “return the verdure to the country’s roads.” A technical commission will be created to coordinate work, monitor progress and manage resources, with RD Vial and Digecac providing personnel and equipment.
