Calian Group leads Canadian space sector gains amid banking shifts
In the Canadian space sector, Calian Group saw a 7.2 per cent increase to $78.29, marking its largest weekly gain among the nine tracked Canadian public companies. The Ottawa-based firm, which specializes in satellite ground systems and soldier training, has risen 42.5 per cent since the start of the year following price-target increases from RBC Capital and CIBC.
Other notable performers in the Canadian space index include Telesat, which rose 4.2 per cent, and Magellan Aerospace, which has seen a year-to-date increase of 78.3 per cent. MDA Space reported ambitions to become a $10-billion-a-year company by fostering the growth of Canadian suppliers into billion-dollar entities.
In the banking sector, Ohio-based Fifth Third has launched ‘Truly Simple’, a new credit card designed to help customers manage revolving debt. The card features 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for 18 months with no annual fee, serving as part of a broader strategy to simplify the bank’s consumer product portfolio.
