California and Lagos to host summit on creative economy investment

The California-Lagos Business and Investment Summit is scheduled for September 17 and 18, 2026, in Sacramento and San Francisco. The event, themed ‘Building the California-Nigeria Business Bridge,’ aims to strengthen economic and cultural partnerships between Africa and the United States.

Key participants include California Governor Gavin Newsom and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The summit will focus on trade, investment, and cross-border opportunities, specifically within the creative sector. Discussions will cover investment in music, film, entertainment, and intellectual property, highlighting how Africa’s creative industries can drive economic growth.

Mike Dada, President and Founder of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), will present on unlocking the California-Lagos creative economy. He will emphasize the necessity of robust commercial frameworks and intellectual property protections to connect African creative assets to international markets. The summit serves as a platform for investors, entrepreneurs, and the African diaspora to explore new business ventures.
