California and UCLA prepare for sold-out rivalry matchup

California and UCLA are set to renew their rivalry at California Memorial Stadium in a non-conference matchup. The game marks the coaching debut for Cal’s Tosh Lupoi, who integrated 32 players from the transfer portal, and UCLA’s Bob Chesney, who previously led James Madison.

California has announced a sellout crowd of over 60,000 fans for the event, the first time the stadium has seen such attendance since 2015. To accommodate the crowd, the university has removed the tarps that previously covered the south end zone seats. The high turnout stands in contrast to recent attendance scrutiny facing USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
