California authorities recover $30,000 in stolen Lego sets

Authorities in California have recovered approximately $28,000 to $30,000 worth of stolen Lego sets found in an abandoned van in the Newberry Springs area. The discovery was made by a deputy during a vehicle check at National Trails Highway and Pioneer Road.

BNSF Railway Police confirmed that the 123 boxes of McLaren F1 Lego sets, valued at roughly $230 each, were connected to a recent boxcar burglary. While the merchandise has been located, investigators reported that no arrests have been made as of the latest update.

This incident is part of a broader trend of cargo thefts in the Mojave Desert region, where organized criminal networks target slow-moving freight trains. Industry estimates suggest that such thefts have increased significantly in recent years.
