Connie Chan calls for full arms embargo on Israel

Connie Chan, a San Francisco supervisor and Democratic candidate endorsed by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has called for a ‘full arms embargo on the Israeli government’. During a televised debate for California’s 11th congressional district, Chan stated that she would vote to end what she described as ‘a genocide in Gaza and to end an apartheid state’ upon entering Congress.

Chan, who is running to succeed Pelosi, also expressed opposition to funding Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, arguing that humanitarian aid must be prioritized. Her opponent, California State Senator Scott Wiener, also criticized the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza and expressed opposition to providing offensive weapons or military funding.

The campaign highlights growing divisions within the Democratic Party regarding U.S. foreign policy and military support for Israel.
