California driver rescued after car plunges 75 feet off cliff

A 37-year-old man from Oxnard sustained minor injuries after his vehicle plunged approximately 75 feet down a cliff along the Pacific Coast Highway near Mugu Rock in Ventura County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver was approaching the area at high speed when he suddenly steered to the right, struck a rock, and fell onto the rocky shoreline. Emergency responders, including firefighters and a helicopter equipped with a high-powered searchlight, conducted a nighttime rescue operation to reach the wrecked gray 2006 Honda Accord.

Authorities reported that the driver was alert, conscious, and communicating with personnel during the rescue. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical attention. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is currently unknown if impairment played a role in the incident.
