California Governor Newsom graduates 36 new wildlife officers

Governor Gavin Newsom celebrated the graduation of 36 new California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) law‑enforcement officers. The ceremony took place in Paradise, Butte County, where the graduates were sworn in, received their badges and were welcomed into the CDFW Law Enforcement Division.

The new officers will be assigned to communities throughout California, where they will help protect the state’s fish and wildlife resources and carry out public‑safety duties on public lands and waterways. CDFW Deputy Director and Chief of Law Enforcement Nathaniel Arnold said each officer represents a commitment to safeguarding natural resources and ensuring safe access for the public.

The Wildlife Officer Academy, certified by California’s Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, provides the same rigorous training as other state law‑enforcement agencies. The graduating class includes an officer continuing a family tradition of service within the Rio Vista District.
