California Highway Cash Seizure of Nearly $1 Million Uncovers Possible Drug Link
California Highway Patrol officers stopped three vehicles traveling together on U.S. Highway 5 near Firebaugh in Fresno County. When one driver failed to comply, officers pursued the convoy. During the chase the driver of a trailing vehicle pulled over, tossed two metal drums onto the roadside and fled. The drums contained approximately 915,000 USD (about 24 billion VND) in cash. Police recovered the cash, several radios and a K‑9 unit that detected a marijuana odor on the money, suggesting the suspects were heading north to purchase cannabis. Two of the three drivers were arrested and face felony charges. Authorities have not disclosed the source of the cash.
