California invests $28 million in electric vehicle charging infrastructure

In California, the state government has allocated US$28 million through the ‘Fast Charge California’ initiative to expand the public rapid charging network for electric vehicles. Managed by the California Energy Commission, the program offers incentives of up to US$100,000 per charging point, with some businesses and property owners eligible for up to 100% of installation costs to improve accessibility for those without private charging options.

In a related shift toward renewable energy, Six Flags has completed the installation of a solar panel system in collaboration with Solar Optimum. This project, located in parking lots, covers the total annual electricity consumption of two of its California theme parks, making it the largest solar installation in the state.

Meanwhile, Colombia has seen a significant surge in electromobility. Between January and September 2026, electric vehicle registrations grew by 221.7% compared to the previous year, totaling 39,784 units. In September alone, electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for 50.7% of all new vehicle registrations. To support this growth, Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy has introduced new regulations to simplify the connection of public charging stations to the electrical grid.
