California kidnapping: Biologists held hostage in Siskiyou County
Joseph Charles Henrichsen allegedly kidnapped two female biologists in Siskiyou County, California, while they were conducting government-commissioned research at Gumboot Lake. The researchers were studying the health of the Cascade frog to assess the local ecosystem.
According to investigating authorities, Henrichsen approached the women with an AR-15 rifle, ordered them to raise their hands, and bound them with cable ties. He then forced them toward his camper. During the incident, Henrichsen reportedly contacted the Forest Service and stated to the FBI that he had taken two government investigators hostage and requested to speak with a federal investigator.
