California law enforcement to hold DUI checkpoints on August 21

Law enforcement agencies in California will conduct DUI and driver’s license checkpoints on August 21.

In Fullerton, the Police Department will host an operation from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location. The site selection is based on statistical data regarding local impaired driving crashes and prior arrests. Officers will evaluate motorists for impairment from alcohol, prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and cannabis.

In Goleta, the Goleta Police Department and the California Highway Patrol will hold a checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The operation aims to deter impaired driving and promote public safety. Authorities noted that while marijuana is legal in the state, driving under its influence remains illegal.

Both programs are funded by grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
