California legislature nears end of session with pending firearm bills

The California State Legislature is entering its final week of the session with several significant bills pending consideration in both the Senate and the Assembly.

In the Senate, pending legislation includes AB1753, which seeks to include ammunition in Gun Violence Restraining Order processes, and AB1974, which addresses the return of firearms held for temporary safekeeping. Additionally, AB2047 proposes restrictions on the sale of 3D printers unless they feature firearm blueprint detection algorithms.

In the Assembly, SB948 aims to expand Firearm Safety Certificate requirements by mandating a minimum four-hour class with live-fire instruction starting in 2028. SB1220 is also noted for creating a new misdemeanor crime related to firearms.
